Our Stargate Charity
Drives |
The Our Stargate Forum and its members has sponsored numerous charity
drives and ongoing charity activities over the course of the last couple of
years. We’ve put this page together to archive some of those activities but,
more importantly, bring you information about any current auctions or other
charity drives or activities associated with the forum that might be going on.
The primary two charities that we support are the American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of
Canada. In the past, we have made special donations to the Canadian Red Cross
and the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Current Charity Drives
We are currently
collection donations for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
to celebration the birth of Michael Shanks and Lexa Doig’s new baby boy,
Samuel!
Throughout 2003, 2004 and 2005, Our Stargate has raised money for the
ASPCA through the sale of badges and buttons at conventions and through the
mail. We couldn’t do this without the fantastic talents of Chance and Kelly,
who have designed, made and donated the items over the years, free of charge!
And, of course, all of you who come by our tables give donations, who help out
at our parties with decorations and food and drink – thank you!
Badges are still available via mail order, although we have very limited supplies right now. Sadly, our lovely Chance who made the badges for us tragically passed away in March of 2006. The donations go to the ASPCA. You may donate *any amount* but you must send a *minimum* amount of $2.00 per badge plus postage and handling. The postage will vary depending upon your location, of course, so send us an email if you’d like to get some badges and help out the animals at the ASPCA at the same time!

Past Charity Drives
Congratulations to Christopher Judge and his partner Gia on the birth of their baby girl, Chloe! Our Stargate collected donations to be made as a one-time gift to one of Chris Judge’s charities of choice, the Make a Wish Foundation.
The 2nd
Annual Our Stargate Charity Ebay Auction was a rousing success and the amount
raised was $493.00! The majority of the items auctioned were donated this year
by OS moderators. If you’d like to participate in next year’s auction, please
let us know. We’d love to keep raising more money for the charities. This year
the auction was conducted to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

Congratulations to
Michael Shanks and Lexa Doig on the birth of their baby girl, Mia Tabitha
Shanks! Our Stargate collected donations to be made as a gift to one of Michael
and Lexa’s charities of choice, the Multiple
Sclerosis Society of Canada. The amount collected was $455.00 (US).
We’d like to acknowledge all of the contributors and thank them for their kind
donations. Our Stargate Founder and Moderator Mother Goddess (Judy) designed
the certificate below that was sent to Michael and Lexa and Terry kindly
donated the use of one of her photos.

Congratulations to Michael Shanks and Amanda Tapping for their wins in
the 2004 LEO Awards! Our Stargate members made donations to the Multiple
Sclerosis Society and the Canadian SPCA in honor or their wins. You can see the
certificates that were sent to them on behalf of the Our Stargate Forum
members, as well, below.

$450.00 (US) was collected to send to the BSCPCA and Multiple
Sclerosis Society of Canada.
In 2003, Our Stargate conducted several online auctions for a special
fundraiser in support of the Canadian Red
Cross. Wildfires caused massive destruction across large parts of Canada,
including Kamloops, an area near and dear to Michael Shanks. Items were
collected or created by our members and auctioned by Our Stargate owner Annie
(Ashton7) and OS moderator Graculus (in the UK). OS moderators Dana Jeanne and
Kelly also assisted by taking buttons, badges and items to a convention in
Australia to raise more money and Best of Both Worlds was instrumental in
helping us with our cause. $400.00 was raised through the auction of donated
items and the sale of badges and buttons.
Our Stargate sponsored a special fanzine in 2004. This was the idea of
one of our wonderful members in The Netherlands, Babs. Babs kindly allowed us
to print some copies to be sold to benefit the ASPCA
at a few select conventions. Slightly over $200.00 was raised! We still
have a couple of copies left. If you’re interested, check out the link here.
Throughout 2003, Our Stargate and the SDJ sponsored “Welcome Back, Daniel”
parties at a number of conventions. In conjunction with these parties, we often
sold our badges and took up a collection for the ASPCA. As mentioned previously
above, thank you so much to everyone who has helped make these parties great
fun, contributed to the door prizes, helped with the food and drink, and
contributed to the charities! During 2004, Our Stargate continued the tradition
at this past year’s MediaWest with a celebration party for Season 7.
