Transcript of Sumuru

OPEN

~Space Shuttle~

Adam: Come on, Jake, there has got to be something down there. Give me some readings.

Jake: Can’t. Lower atmosphere radiation levels are too high. Without ground boosters we can’t even detect an elephant.

Adam: Any word from the base?

Jake: Nope. Still white noise on all frequencies. Look, either these people are dead or out to lunch ... or—

Adam: Or what?

Jake: Or they’re not in the mood to talk to us.

Adam: After 900 years with no contact with Earth who’d thunk? Let’s take a closer look.

Jake: You know I always said that deep space colonization is a bad idea.

Adam: (in unison, in mocking way) Deep space colonization is a bad idea.

Ya well, from where I am sitting the fact that we spread the human gene pool this far into space was a good investment.

Jake: Are you going to tell them why we are here?

Adam: Not yet, I want to assess the situation first.

Jake: Assess? What is to assess? I mean, down there is mankind’s last hope. If they don’t come to the party we are all royally screwed.

Adam: Stand by for entry.

Computer Voice: Sequence complete prepare for atmosphere reentry.

~Shuttle begins rocky entry into planet~

Adam: Tell me you can fix this.

Jake: Radiation has knocked out all the Nav systems. Uh … okay … Remember flight school? Manual steering.

Adam: Just like riding a bull. Hold on tight.

~Shuttle enters planet~

Jake: Hello, Colonists, this is one hell of an introduction. We are losing altitude real fast.

Adam: I gotta get the nose up. Burn forward thrusters.

Jake: 3 … 2 … 1 … Burn!

Adam: Come on, baby, one last time … Come on.

Jake: It is still too steep, Adam.

Adam: Jake, skids down, NOW!

Jake: Ohhh … man this is going to hurt. I can’t get the skids down ... hold on!

~Shuttle Crashes~

~Adam is supporting Jake who has a piece of metal in shoulder~

Adam: Oh man … .we have got to find a better way of getting from planet to planet.

Jake: Thank God I was strapped down.

Adam: Well ... we can’t stay long anyway, we’re parked in a loading zone, sooo …

Jake: Owwwwwwww!!

Adam: Here, lean on something.

~Adam climbs out of shuttle, looks around~

Adam: Oh yeah ... nice driving, Wade.

~Climbs down from shuttle and aids Jake down~

Adam: Let’s set you down over here …

~Adam looks around~

Adam: Welcome to planet Antaries my ass.

~Adam attends to Jake’s wound~

Jake: Ow ow ... what are you doing?

Adam: (with faux accent) Damn it, Jake … I’m a pilot not a doctor.

~Injects Jake with sedative~

Jake: Oh yeah, baby ... that’s much better.

Adam: Here, hold this (Places gag in Jake’s mouth)

~Adam pulls metal piece from Jake as Jake cries out~

Adam: Sorry about that …

Jake: (Pointing) What’s that? Up there … Looks like a dog.

Adam: (seeing nothing) uhh … okay relax, Jake, you are all tranqed up.

Jake: Planet of the dogs (laughing) let’s go check it out.

Adam: Easy trigger … hold this (gives him a bandage) ... put it on there.

Jake: Starbase should be … (Muttering and pointing)

Adam: Tell you what … I’ll go check it out … you stay here. Put pressure on that … (places bandage on wound)

~Dog barks in distance~

Jake: Told you (whisper, laughs)

~Adam runs off to check it out, follows sound and finds Will and Dog~

Will: Snakeheads are behind us.

Adam: Okay … Don’t be scared (Will turns to run) … Wait! Kid! (to self) Snakeheads huh?

~Adam chases him~

Will: (to dog, while running) Yeah ... maybe the Snakeheads will catch him instead of us.

~Will runs into temple guards~

Taxan Guard Commander: You’re late for sacrifice boy.

Will: (drops dog) Run, Dog, Run ... get out of here!

~He faces the guards with small knife, Taxan Guard Commander kicks it from his hand as another knocks him out~

Taxan Guard Commander: Take him away!

~Adam arrives to same location, finds the small knife, an earthquake hits ~

Adam:(into watch communicator) Jake you okay?

Jake: Just juicy … that was quite a ride ... a good 6.2 on the Richter scale.

Adam: Yeah, I got that ... what caused it?

Jake: Let me guess ... you need some geo scans, huh?

Adam: Yeah, I would appreciate that.

Jake: Did you find anything yet?

Adam: Not sure ... I’ll get back to you on that.

~Looks around, follows footsteps to temple, goes inside where it is occupied by women only, in a variety of garments, he watches~

Women Chanting: Sumuru … Sumuru … Sumuru

~Sumuru enters with entourage~

Taxan: We hail the great serpent goddess who shakes the heart of our world.

~Women repeat~

Taxan: All powerful snake mother receive our offering of blood.

~Women repeat~

~Huge CG snake appears from pit~

Adam: Nice local wildlife.

Taxan: (turns to Sumuru) Sumuru … Queen of Planet Antaries … the serpent goddess returns the sun to our sky.

Sumuru: (not enthused) We all thank the serpent for our sunrise.

Taxan: Bring out the sacrifice; the serpent is ready to feed.

~Guards bring in hooded figure~

Women Chanting: Feed the goddess … feed the goddess (repeating)

Taxan: (To hooded figure) Sacrifice … behold the serpent’s face.

~Hooded figure’s face is revealed~

Dove: NO!!!!!!!!!

Sumuru: Dove!

Dove: He’s my birth brother, Sumuru!

Sumuru: Your brother?

~Dove fights temple guards to free Will; one guard is eaten by snake~

Taxan: Hold Them! They have defiled the ritual, throw them all in the pit.

Sumuru: Stop! You know the law, Taxan. Man kills so man can be killed, but not woman.

Taxan: Your woman just defiled our holy sacrifice and she killed another woman.

Sumuru: It was self-defense. Order your women to back off, Taxan.

Taxan: I am goddess in this temple and that male is my chosen sacrifice.

Sumuru: You may be goddess in this temple, Taxan, but I am Queen of Antaries. The girl serves me; the boy is her brother. I hereby pardon him.

Taxan: You cannot pardon one whose body is promised to the snake mother.

Sumuru: I just did. Do you want a battle, Goddess? Here and now?

(Jake on communicator) Find anything yet?

Adam: Not a good time to talk. (to Jake)

Taxan: A male! Take him!

~Adam fires weapon and runs~

Dove: (to Will) Run, Will!

Taxan: (to guards) Bring him to me, alive.

Taxan: (to Sumuru) The ceremony is over, for now.

Sumuru: (to her guards) I want to be there when they find the stranger.

~Outside temple, Adam catches up to Will, temple guards in hot pursuit~

Adam: Keep moving, kid, ship’s just over the hill.

Will: (pointing) What’s that?

Adam: That’s a star shuttle, kid.

~Temple guards open fire; Adam returns fire~

Adam: (to Will) GO! GO! GO!

Jake: Okay ... so you found the chicks … did you have to piss them off?

Adam: Shut up! Get in and lock the hatch!

Jake: (to Adam) Who’s your friend? (shrugs) Come on, kid!

~Adam continues exchanging fire with guards~

Taxan Guard Commander: Get them!

~Adam gets hit with an arrow from Taxan Guard Commander, he limps inside the shuttle wounded~

Jake: Whoa, whoa, whoa ... Adam! (aids Adam)

Will: Snakebite! That’s bad. (tries to remove arrow)

Jake: Hey! What are you doing? No!

Will: I have to! It is poisoned!

~Temple guards arrive at shuttle~

Taxan Guard Commander: (loudly) Surrender yourselves!

Sumuru: (arriving) Stop! Lower your weapons.

Taxan Guard Commander: We take our orders from the serpent goddess herself.

Sumuru: Taxan sent you to kill these men?

Taxan Guard Commander: Woman can kill man, it’s the law.

Sumuru: I am queen here; those males are my prisoners.

Taxan Guard Commander: I serve goddess Taxan.

Sumuru: Then go back to her temple and tell her those men are mine.

~Temple guards leave, Sumuru enters shuttle~

Will: (to Sumuru) Temple Snakeheads bit him. What are you going to do? He’s going to die.

~Adam points weapon at Sumuru~

Sumuru: Point that weapon at me again and I will kill you faster than the poison in your blood.

~Sumuru pulls the arrow from his leg, Adam yells~

Sumuru: (to Adam) This will kill the venom of the snake.

~ She sticks him with needle, he cries out in pain, and passes out~

Sumuru: (to Dove with sarcasm) Males. Put a guard on the starship, Dove.

Dove: What about these males?

Jake: These males, lady …

Dove: Quiet!

Sumuru: Get surgeon Teller to have a look at that one (indicating Jake), and clean this one up (indicating Adam). I am going to question him later.

~New Scene~

Will: (walking alone, calling out) Dog! Dog! Dog, where are you? Dog! Dog!

~Someone approaches~

Will: Whoa! I thought you were the Snakeheads.

Dove: I could have been. Didn’t I tell you to stay out of the temple zone?

Will: But it’s not me, it’s Dog. He keeps running away.

Dove: Will, you must stay away from the temple guards and the village, for that matter. Please?

Will: Since you became Sumuru’s bodyguard I hardly see you anymore.

Dove: Oh, Will, it’s because I am Sumuru’s bodyguard that I am able to protect you. If it wasn’t for the queen, Taxan would have fed you to the snake mother.

Will: I guess … (sad)

Dove: If something like this happens again, Sumuru will choose another bodyguard. I will be disgraced. Then how would I take care of you?

Will: But you always take care of me.

Dove: Always (smiling) now get out of here. If I can, I will come see you tonight.

Will: And tell me a story? (hopeful)

Dove: And tell you a story (smiling)

~New Scene~

~Adam wakes up on a bed, Jake is escorted in by a guard~

Jake: (pushed by escort) Hey, Hey, Hey, easy, girl! (Smile and small wave as he checks out another guard) Hey!

Adam: (to Jake) Hey …

Jake: (to Adam) Hey …

Adam: How you doing?

Jake: Strike one up for herbal medication. You?

Adam: Oh ... you know, my head feels like I crashlanded on the planet without the shuttle.

~Jake sits down next to him~

Adam: What do you make of all of this?

Jake: Well, they speak our language. Which means they are descendants of the colonists or a tribe that was in close contact with them. But apart from the kid the only people we’ve seen are women.

Adam: Well maybe the gene virus got here before us and all the men are already dead.

Jake: Nah … If the gene virus had eliminated their ability to reproduce the last colonist would have died like 800 years ago. If something is happening to the men it is happening in this generation now. But listen, that is not the worst part. (Will comes in) Hey, kid (smiling).

Adam: Humor me

Jake: I did those geo scans you asked me for. The earthquake was no isolated incident. This planet is going through some major tectonic changes. Underground volcanoes, shifting magna flows, gravity fluctuating magnetic fields.

Adam: Explains why our sensors failed.

Jake: Remember Krypton?

Adam: Yeah?

Jake: Remember what happened?

Adam: Yeah … .

~Jake gives him a knowing look~

Adam: No … No … No (repeats rapidly and flops back on bed)

Jake: This planet is cooked, Adam. These people need saving just as much as we do and their time is running out.

Adam: How long?

Jake: I can’t tell unless I know the frequency of the quakes.

Adam: Educated guess, Jake (frustrated)

Jake: Alright! Two months … maybe three.

Adam: (sighs) Well, if the gene virus is already here it doesn’t really make much difference, does it?

Jake: Hey, how is your med scan?

~Adam removes a small scanner device and scans his arm~

Adam: Just a trace of the snake venom; no sign of the virus antibodies … let’s see yours.

~Adam scans Jake~

Jake: Still negative too?

~Adam nods, they both look at Will; Adam gets up and approaches him~

Adam: Hey, kid … your name’s Will, right?

Will: Yeah …

~Another earthquake hits; they all get tossed around room~

Jake: 6.9. I was right; this planet is being torn apart.

Will: Oh, it’s only the sacred snake moving.

Jake: (To Will) Is that right … huh? And this happens often?

Will: Yeah … All the time. Hmm ... what was that thing you … (indicates scanning motion)

Adam: Oh … hmm ... I’ll show you.

Will: Is it like an oracle? Can it tell things about me?

Adam: It’s better than an oracle. It tells us if you have a secret illness.

~He completes scan and shakes head NO to Jake as Dove enters~

Dove: HEY! What are you doing to my brother?

Adam: Nothing. Just a simple med scan … he is, uh ... .kid is … in A-One shape.

~Dove gives Adam a disbelieving stare~

Jake: We need to talk to this queen of yours.

Dove: After she bathes the queen will interrogate him. (indicates Adam) Alone.

Jake: Alone?

~ Adam raises an eyebrow as though shrugging; Adam leaves with Dove~

Jake: (shouting after them) Sounds good to me! (to Will) So, sacred snake, eh?

~Guards lead Adam to Sumuru’s bathing chamber; all is silent as her attendants wait for her to finish; Adam watches; Sumuru finishes then is dressed; she picks up Adam’s weapon from a pillow and goes to him~

Adam: Careful you could take someone’s eye out.

Sumuru: Quite a powerful weapon.

Adam: In the right hands.

~Sumuru fires weapon into ceiling; everyone ducks~

Sumuru: (to attendants) OUT!

Dove: (protesting) But, Your Highness!

Sumuru: All of you.

~Dove motions everyone out~

Sumuru: Not too difficult weapon to master for a queen. (turns and walks away) So, what is your name?

Adam: Adam.

Sumuru: How’s your leg?

Adam: It’s good as new. You’ve got a way with snakebites

Sumuru: There are a lot of snakes in my world.

~She sits and indicates that he may also sit; he sits across from her~

Sumuru: So, you told the boy you came on a starship.

Adam: Yes, we … uh … landed cause we needed fuel …

Sumuru: You didn’t land, star man, you crashed and your needs are the least of my concerns.

Adam: Right … .

Sumuru: You speak our tongue. Where are you from?

Adam: We came from a planet called Earth. It’s far, far away.

Sumuru: Earth …

Adam: We also believe that your people came from there a thousand years ago.

Sumuru: 914 based on your calendar to be precise, slightly less than 700 by Antarian standard.

Adam: Then you know about the colony.

Sumuru: Not much ... my science advisors pieced some of it together. We have almost no record the past 300 hundred years.

~Adam activates a hologram from his watch~

Sumuru: A lesser mind would think of it as magic.

Adam: It’s just science; a holographic projection.

Sumuru: Tell me the story.

Adam: An expedition from Earth, men and woman, set up a terraforming base here ... .it was the furthest outpost humans ever colonized, far from the trading routes. For 50 years Antares starbase sent back reports to our nearest post on Sirius, then all of a sudden the contact stopped.

Sumuru: You never tried to find out what happened?

Adam: There was a war, followed by another right after it. When it was over the people that survived needed about 200 hundred years to rebuild civilization. Needless to say, an outpost at the furthest end of the galaxy wasn’t our biggest priority. We have been out of touch with you for nine centuries.

Sumuru: Why have you come here now?

Adam: I told you: we lost contact with you.

Sumuru: Why now? What do you want from us?

Adam: Jake and I came here to help you and your people.

Sumuru: Help us? How?

Adam: Well … your planet is not in the best of shape. The core is unstable.

Sumuru: (nodding) The quakes.

Adam: (sarcastic) Yeah … they are not caused by the snake monster you’ve got in the pit.

Sumuru: Is that so … .We mine oil and gas deep in the rock. Every time our world shakes my engineers measure every movement.

Adam: But the … uh … (makes air quotes) sacrificial ceremony to the serpent goddess?

Sumuru: (sighs) Taxan? (gets up) At one point our people got so scared of the quakes they turned to religion for an answer. Taxan has been feeding on that ever since.

Adam: Taxan is … ?

Sumuru: The living serpent goddess; it is her warriors that shot you.

Adam: Ahhh … seems to be a little bit more than political animosity between you.

Sumuru: Taxan has been groomed by her family to be queen. She comes from a fine bloodline that produced four queens in three centuries. She considers my throne her birthright. But the Antarian queen is not born she is elected and the people elected me.

Adam: So instead of accepting defeat she opted to form her own party—bit of a sore loser.

Sumuru: And a dangerous opponent.

Adam: Well … she is not your biggest problem.

Sumuru: Why?

Adam: To put it bluntly, your planet’s dying. That is the cause of the quakes. You need to evacuate your people and find them a new future.

Sumuru: A new future? Where?

Adam: Well, they are plenty of other planets out there with oceans, forests, snow-capped mountains. We want to help but we you need to persuade your people to leave.

Sumuru: How? On your starship? It is lying in the valley, crashed, burned, destroyed like all man’s dreams.

Adam: What does that mean?

Sumuru: It was written long, long ago man brought the curse of darkness.

~Adam gets up and faces her, closely~

Adam: Where are the men of your planet?

Sumuru: (sighs and walks off camera) Come on. I’ll show you.

~Adam joins her~

~New Scene~

~Will is following Sumuru and Adam in the tunnels to an area with men mining~

Sumuru: The men of Antares ~ pans over the men~ they are miners; digging for the oil and gas we burn. The strongest ones are sometimes elected to maintain and broaden the cave passages.

Adam: Why is it only men down here?

Sumuru: Men have muscles not brains. Men are workers. Women plan, organize, and make decisions. It is just the natural order of things.

Adam: It’s the natural order of things??

Sumuru: We keep them alive. On their own they would never survive.

Adam: Men don’t have brains??? (Angered and he grabs her)

Sumuru: (to guards) STOP! (to Adam) Men brought the light of death upon us.

Guards: The light was a judgment on man’s pride.

Adam: What the hell does that mean?

Sumuru: It’s our history. Men are born to work and women are born to rule.

Adam: What about families, things like that. You don’t have those?

Sumuru: My women still mate with males; we have to reproduce.

Adam: That is not what I meant.

Sumuru: Well ... that is all there is.

~Sumuru then kisses him, as Taxan and her guards watch from a distance, Adam pulls away~

Sumuru: See what I mean?

Adam: A little kiss before I head to the gas mines?

Sumuru: I didn’t save your life to waste it in the mines. I want to learn more from you.

Adam: It doesn’t work like that. We came here in peace.

Sumuru: Men never go anywhere with peace in mind. We have peace.

Adam: You call this peace? I call this slavery.

~Sumuru goes to hit him; he grabs her whip and throws it, Dove comes at him~

Adam: Now what?

Sumuru: (to guards) STOP!

~She decks him~

Adam: Have to do better than that.

~She hits him again; he then ducks several of her blows and grabs her, Dove hits him from behind~

Sumuru: Lock him up and the other one too.

Dove: (to Adam) GET UP! (kicks him) MOVE!

~Adam gets up and Dove and a few other guards escort him away, then pans over to Taxan~

Taxan: (to Guard Commander) Kill all the guards. Bring the Starman to me.

Taxan Guard Commander: My pleasure, goddess.

~New Scene~

~Guards are escorting Adam, Temple Guards are waiting~

Will: Watch out! Ambush!

Taxan Guard Commander: (under breath) Damn (out loud) FIRE!!!

~Temple Guards kill Sumuru’s guards~

Taxan Guard Commander: Don’t move, alien.

Will: (running in) Dove! Dove!!!

~Dove is shot in the chest and is bleeding~

Dove: Will … .

Will: Dove! No, don’t die … please don’t die.

~Temple guards motion Adam to leave with them~

Dove: Will … Oh God, Will.

Will: Don’t die!

Dove: I am so sorry I couldn’t protect you better. Will, it is important, tell Sumuru what happened. (she dies)

Will: Dove! Dove! don’t die … Dove! Dove! (sobbing on her body)

~Guards lead Adam into Taxan’s bedchamber~

Taxan: I am Taxan, living serpent goddess, leader of the Antarian faithful.

Adam: Yeah, well … uhh … your women here just killed some Antarian faithful in the hallway.

Taxan: I liberated you from Queen Sumuru.

Adam: Doesn’t much feel like liberation.

Taxan: (to guards) Leave.

~She sits on her bed~

Taxan: You fell from the stars.

Adam: Yeah … you can say that.

Taxan: My warriors tell me you carry the most powerful weapon they have ever seen.

Adam: Actually your queen carries that now.

Taxan: You have other weapons on your starship?

Adam: Maybe.

Taxan: Join me.

Adam: (clears throat) To do what?

Taxan: Help me defeat the blasphemous Sumuru in the sacred name of the temple.

Adam: Let me ask you a question. Is this a religious crusade or is this a personal thing?

Taxan: Sumuru believes in the ways of science, but Science is the god of man, and man kills.

Adam: Yeah … that is the second time I have heard that man kills theme. Hmmmm … You want to elaborate on that a little bit?

Taxan: What do you mean?

Adam: What do I mean? What do I mean … hmmm … well, I don’t know, That 900 hundred years ago this place was, you know, a thriving terraforming colony with farmer, scientists, family units. Men, women, children that sort of thing. What happened?

Taxan: Legend has it that the gods were angered at man’s attempt to force his will upon the planet. Lightning fell from heaven. There was fire without flames and those too close were burned—mostly men.

Adam: And the women just took over.

Taxan: We can rule Antares together.

Adam: No, I think sharing with a man is against your religion.

Taxan: (getting up) I am the living goddess I make my own religion. Join me.

~She licks his ear~

Adam: Hmm … (seeing something he pulls away and goes over) What’s that?

Taxan: What?

Adam: It’s a view screen.

Taxan: It is a relic from times gone.

~Snake slithers on top of screen~

Adam: Whoa. (jumps back)

Taxan: Don’t be afraid. They’re my sacred children.

Adam: Yeah, but they still bite (He snatches it and crushes it with his boot)

Taxan: The penalty for killing my sacred serpents is death.

Adam: Well ... you know once bitten, twice shy.

~She walks to him~

Taxan: I just pardoned you.

~She kisses him, and he activates screen with his watch~

Adam: Hmmm …

Taxan: (seeing screen) Magic!

Adam: Yeah ... sorta. It’s … uh … magic view screen. Still has some juice left in its magic nuclear battery.

Taxan: Make it light up again.

Adam: I can’t. It looks like the some of the magic transponders aren’t working.

Taxan: Give me that magic!

Adam: I don’t think that is a good idea.

Taxan: I am Taxan; obey me!

Adam: Sorry, goddess, my magic.

~Taxan takes out a knife and comes at him; he grabs her and knocks the knife away~

Adam: I see you’re not into long running relationships, either?

Taxan: GUARDS!!!!

~Two guards coming running in; Adam releases her~

Taxan: Take him! Chain him!

~The guards are really Sumuru and Jake~

Sumuru: (removing helmet) Believe me, we will. You slaughtered my guards, Taxan.

Taxan: I have as much right to this male as you.

Adam: Excuse me?

Sumuru and Taxan: QUIET!

Sumuru: (to Taxan) You broke the first law. Women never kill women.

Taxan: Soon I will be writing the law. (Sumuru gets closer, pointing Bow at her) Raise your hand against me again and you will answer to the faithful.

Sumuru: It is you who’s going to answer to the Antarian people.

Taxan: Your word against mine. Try and prove it.

Sumuru: Dove’s brother is a witness.

Adam: So am I

Sumuru and Taxan: QUIET!

Taxan: Men giving evidence against women? HA! You’re wasting your time. Fool.

Sumuru: You’re right.

~Sumuru knocks her out flat~

Jake: Ohhhhhhhhhhh …

Sumuru: I should have done it a long time ago.

Jake: Nice shot!

Adam: (to Jake) Nice outfit

Jake: (to Adam) Don’t even go there.

Sumuru: We have to get out of here.

Jake: We have to get out of this. (Indicating armor)

~New Scene~

~Will is drawing on cave wall with two of Sumuru’s guards standing watch over the tied temple guards~

Will: Here they come!

Sumuru: Taxan’s warriors guard every tunnel between here and the city of history.

Jake: City of history?

Will: You mean the burn zone?

Jake: (to Adam) What are they on about?

Adam: (to Jake) Uhh … no idea but apparently there was some sort of catastrophic event hundreds of years ago called the light of death, which seems to be the key to their civilization.

Jake: Light of death, burn zone. The colonists’ command center had like a quantum flux power reactor way unstable by today’s standards. You think there might be a connection?

Sumuru: Come on; got to go!

~They all start to leave, Will is still standing there; Jake goes back for him~

Jake: Hey, Will, let’s go

Will: Where’s Dog?

Jake: Uhhh … .

Will: He always comes back.

Jake: And I am sure he will catch up with us, kid … it’s just we don’t have time to wait or go look for him. Okay … .OK? Come on, let’s go … .

~Will is reluctant but he leaves with Jake~

~New Scene~

~Adam, Jake, Sumuru, Will and guards are walking in tunnel~

Adam: So what’s this burn zone?

Sumuru: Ancient buildings at the edge of our city. Legend says my people once fled from there.

Adam: Fled?

Sumuru: Yes, away from the light of death. (takes out necklace from under shirt) This badge is handed down from queen to queen, a relic from the burn zone.

Jake: It is an ancient faster then light cruiser like a passenger transport version.

Adam: There is something like this in the burn zone?

Sumuru: That is what I am hoping—a ship to get you both off my world.

Adam: Wait Wait Wait … if there is a ship like this, we can take you and your people with us.

Sumuru: You are rogue males here. I want you both gone before there is more trouble; more women dead. I will deal with Taxan and order will be restored.

~She turns away to leave and the others follow~

Adam: (to Jake) Okay, brain boy, you think you can figure a way to fire up that ship after a thousand years?

Jake: Well, the quantum flux reactor in the command center is probably shot. But the fission generators might be operational if we can get them powered up then maybe we can charge the cells of the ship … (off the look Adam gives him) What, you got a better idea?

Adam: It’s insane and highly unlikely and no I don’t have a better idea.

Jake: You haven’t forgotten we are supposed to take some of these people from Antares home with us …

Adam: They’re not going to cooperate with us; right now they just want us gone.

Jake: You haven’t told her what’s about to happen?

Adam: I’m getting the feeling a man’s word is not worth too much on this planet …

Jake: What about Earth ... you know, gene virus.

Adam: Well, it’s not going to make a difference; they don’t care if we need them to survive or not.

~In front of them, Sumuru spots some temple guards coming around the bend~

Sumuru: BACK!

~They all turn to run; they hide in a small space and the warriors come through~

Sumuru: Taxan has given the alarm out to her warriors. All the tunnels are going to be sealed off.

Adam: There goes that never hitting a women thing.

Jake: Wonder if hitting would have done any good. I mean, did you see the pecs on those chicks?

Will: Well, I know …

Sumuru: Shhh … not now …

Adam: (to Will) What? (Repeats ‘what’ several times)

Will: (whispering) I used to hide here from the warriors. There was another way out.

Adam: Okay ... lead the way ...

~They follow Will to a hole in the wall several feet up from the floor~

Will: (motioning to them) Over here ... .come lift me up. (Adam lifts him to the hole) Okay, no guards ... .come, let’s go …

Adam: (eyeing the small hole) There is no way we are fitting in there.

Jake: (pointing towards a lighted exit) How about that way? What’s that light down there?

Sumuru: We can’t go that way.

Adam: Why not?

Sumuru: It leads to the surface.

Jake: So … it’s a way out.

Sumuru: On the surface, we are going to be spotted kilometers away. Trust me.

Jake: I don’t get it. What’s down there?

Will: There’s a prison.

Jake: A prison? (Shakes head in disbelief and disgust)

~Jake heads toward the light as Adam gives Sumuru an unsure look; he follows Jake The temple guards are shown trailing the group as they arrive at an underground pit with men locked inside~

Jake: Sumuru, what the hell is this?

Sumuru: We are wasting time here. Keep on moving.

Jake: These people are caged up like animals.

Adam: That’s the way things are on Antar-ASS, Jake. The women rule and the men slave.

Jake: That is bullshit!

Sumuru: Would you like it the other way around? Man brought the light of death.

Adam, Will, and guards: It was a judgment on man’s pride.

Jake: What are you on about?

Adam: It’s their history, Jake.

Will: Sshhh … guys, we have got to get out of here before more snakeheads spot us.

Jake: (to Will) Not now, kid … .(to Sumuru) How do you open these gates?

Sumuru: We don’t

Will: (pointing) That wheel over there! (Will and Jake go to wheel) Here …

~Jake starts to turn it~

Will: No … no, the other way …

Jake: Adam, give us a hand here … .

Sumuru: (whipping bow around to Jake) Turn that wheel and I’ll shoot you.

Adam: (stepping forward to Sumuru) Whoa ... Whoa … Whoa! Easy! … Come on … Jake ... Come on … that thing leaves a mark.

Sumuru: I want you off my planet.

Adam: Okay ... we don’t have time to debate men’s right here … .

Sumuru: Men’s rights?

Will: Snakeheads!

~Temple guards come in. Sumuru takes some of them out with her bow. Will ducks~

Adam: Jake, get that gate open!

~Jake works on opening gate~

Adam: (to Sumuru) Give me my weapon … (she gives him a look) Give me my weapon!

~Sumuru retrieves his weapon from her guard~

Sumuru: Destroying our order will not be your legacy.

Adam: Do you agree with all your people or just the better half?

~ She hands it to him, and he fires at the temple guards, taking them out~

Adam: (to caged men) Get out of there! GO!

~The men stay, unsure~

Sumuru: Climb up! I command you!

~They climb out and flee~

Jake: Now what?

Sumuru: The surface.

Jake: I thought you said we would be spotted if we go to the surface.

Sumuru: It’s the only chance we’ve got. Come on!

~They all take off~

~New Scene~

~The group and the released prisoners are running from the tunnel and arrive on the outside, out of breath~

Jake: Fresh air!

Sumuru: We cannot stay here. Taxan’s warriors are right behind us.

Adam: Where to?

Sumuru: (pointing) The burn zone.

Adam: Let’s go!

~ They all start running. Jake drops something~

Adam: Go … Go! (Picking up item) I got it!

Jake: Thanks …

~The group continues to run, the released men in a different direction than the group. The groups stops at an overlook, a view of the village below~

Sumuru: Antares, my home.

Adam: I guess it’s beautiful in a sorta Miami Beach kinda way.

Sumuru: The zone is behind the mountain.

Adam: Let’s get going.

~New scene~

~Taxan is in her chamber, preparing to go after the group. Her guards enter~

Taxan Guard Commander: They have freed all the males from the south gas mines. I have sent warriors to the top of the shaft.

Taxan: Round up the slaves later. I want the traitor Sumuru and her alien heretics.

~New scene~

~The group is trekking across the desert. Adam catches up to Sumuru~

Adam: You know you did the right thing back there, letting those men go.

Sumuru: It was stupid. Goes against everything Antarian’s believe in.

Adam: Then why did you let us do it?

~She stops as does everyone else~

Sumuru: I am present when a child is born on Antares. The moment the child leaves its mother is the last moment it is truly free. Seconds later it will be decided whether the child will live as an outcast or as part of our society. To me that always felt unjust.

~They start walking again~

Adam: Yeah well, if the sex is a gauge~*missing words*~ Taxan is a bad example of that.

Sumuru: Still wasn’t the right thing to do. And thanks to you there is chaos and no chance of returning to the village.

~They stop~

Jake: Oh … like we want to return to your village … like we even care …

Adam: Jake!

Jake: Oh, come off it, Adam, you seriously can’t be siding with her on this.

Adam: Jake! Go for a walk ... GO! All of you … go … get out of here … go … just keep moving.

Jake: Come on …

~Jake and the others walk away, leaving Sumuru and Adam~

Adam: Yeah … for Jake this is a little bit more than just personal.

Sumuru: How so?

Adam: When he was a kid his parents were taken away and put in a slave labor camp. He knows what it’s like to have nothing, to be treated like nothing. Yeah, we’re full of surprises.

Sumuru: We’d better get going …

Adam: Yeah ... better get going … .

~New Scene~

~Taxan and her guards running across desert, coming up on released men~

Man: Snakeheads! RUN!

~Men flee~

Taxan Guard Commander: (to other guards) Round up all those males!

Taxan: Forget them.

Taxan Guard Commander: Which way do you think they went?

Taxan: There is only one place Sumuru can take them: the zone.

Taxan Guard Commander: Goddess, we cannot enter the zone.

Taxan: You are under the serpent’s protection. Follow me.

Taxan Guard Commander: (to others) You heard the order. MOVE!

~New Scene~

~The group is climbing a dune~

Sumuru: Come on, boy! Your sister and I used to climb up this mountain when we were much younger than you. She never gave up.

Will: You mean Dove beat you?

Sumuru: You don’t beat your queen. But she could have.

~Quake hits, sending them all tumbling down~

Jake: Damn these quakes. You know, this planet is really starting to piss me off.

Will: It’s the snake mother; she is angry.

Sumuru: There is a reason for that, boy. Our world is ending.

Will: Ending? What does that mean?

Jake: This planet’s old, kid, which means it can get sick like people and even die ... that’s why we gotta get you out of here ... come on, let’s go.

~Does a quick flash of the temple guards in pursuit, then back to the group~

Adam: You know, by now Taxan’s has all your people up in arms against you. You would be a lot safer coming with us.

Sumuru: I can’t … I do not rule my people … I serve them, and if I had to I’d die for them.

Adam: Whatever floats your boat.

Sumuru: This is the furthest I have ever been.

Jake: So how do you know where this burn zone of yours actually starts?

~A skeleton lies on the ground, still clothed~

Will: Whoa! Hey, look what I found.

Sumuru: We call him the keeper of the zone.

~Jake scans the remains with his watch~

Jake: When this guy died, I’d say about 900 hundreds years ago, his bones were glowing in the dark, but we are okay, though, cause Quantum radiation dissipates real fast.

Adam: (checking watch) Yeah ... it is low levels now … Starbase power reactor was right next to the shuttle bay—you think the ship’s systems are still going to be functional?

Jake: Well, spacecraft are designed to withstand extreme cosmic radiation, even micro-asteroids. I’d say if she doesn’t have a flat tire we’ve got a chance. Nine centuries ago, this place had one hell of a quantum burst. I mean this whole area must have been polluted. I’d say anyone within the vicinity of the command center must have been dead within three seconds.

Adam: According to the databases, the women were working the terraforming fields further north. All they saw was a bright light and a fire without flame.

Sumuru: (nods) The light of death.

Adam: Look, mystery solved, okay … the colonists blew themselves up. Mostly women survived and they just, you know, rebuilt society to their needs.

~Shots are fired from temple guards; one of Sumuru’s guards is killed~

Sumuru: TAXAN!

Adam: Let’s GO!

~They take off~

Taxan: Come on!

Taxan Guard Commander: We are moving out! Come on!

~Temple guards give chase as another quake hits, sending both groups tumbling~

Taxan: Come on! Keep Moving!

Adam: Everybody okay?

Sumuru: Will? WILL!

~They all run to Will, who has been buried by sand. They dig him out~

Adam: Lay him down … he’s still breathing.

~Will is coughing as Adam gets out his scanner~

Adam: (to Will) You with us?

Will: Scanning my body again, Adam? No secret illness, right? Just like before?

Adam: You betcha, kid.

Sumuru: What sickness?

Adam: I’ll tell you later.

Sumuru: No now.

Will: Scan her, Adam. She’ll be negative, too.

Adam: That’s up to her, Will.

Sumuru: (holds up arm) Do I pass your test?

~He scans her~

Adam: You’re perfect.

~Jake breathes a sigh of relief~

Sumuru: Okay … now the truth.

~She gets up and walks away. Adam, after a look from Jake, joins her~

Adam: Your planet is dying. Our world is already dead.

Sumuru: Earth?

Adam: A ... gene virus … long dormant left over in our DNA from a gene war centuries ago suddenly became active. It destroyed our ability to procreate. There is no cure; no antidote. Over the last 60 years, human colonies all over the galaxy have diminished to the point of extinction.

Sumuru: So you and Jake?

Adam: We are two of the last clean humans left. Scientifically speaking, we are freaks of nature.

Sumuru: Why did you come here?

Adam: Your community is the only healthy gene pool large enough to support the survival of the human species.

Sumuru: You came here to …

Adam: You tested negative for the viral antibodies. So did Will. There is no trace of the gene virus here; you’re our last hope, you and your people. If we leave without you, there is nowhere we can go. Help us.

Sumuru: Let’s find the ship first.

~She walks away and he follows her~

~New Scene~

~The group is running across the desert. A domed structure comes into view~

Jake: We’re here. Adam, check it out … the radiation levels are radical. It looks like they have altered the reflective qualities of the dome.

~They arrive to a manhole-like opening in the side. Adam tries to open it~

Adam: Okay … reactor’s just behind this door; shuttle bay just beyond that. (Trying to open with watch) Control circuits are all blown; there is no response.

Jake: Ahhh … Forget it. (Holds up hand gun)

Adam: Okaaaay …

Jake: Stand back …

~ They all step back; he shoots the opening and it creates a hole. Will crawls in first~

Jake: After you, ma’am ... (to Sumuru, with a smile)

~New Scene~

~Taxan and guards walking toward the dome~

Taxan: (pointing) There it is! Follow me!

~Goes over to the group, briefly walking around inside the dome then back to Taxan and temple guards arriving at the entrance hole, the guards hesitate to enter~

Taxan: Well … what are you waiting for? (She shoots a guard) Anyone else care to disobey me?

~Back to the group inside~

Jake: Guys! I found it over here …

~They follow Jake up some stairs to a control center~

Jake: (eyeing old equipment) Whoa ... ummm

Adam: You think you can get the power up?

Jake: Hey, I was right. The quantum flux reactor did blow. Must have been one heck of a quantum wave. Didn’t seem to have damaged much of the equipment, though. Okay, everybody cross your fingers and pray the fission generators are still functional.

~Tries the generators and they start~

Jake: Yes please … you didn’t think Mother Nature would spare an idiot from extinction, did ya?

~Reactor shuts off again~

Adam: (pats Jake on the shoulder) No comment.

Jake: Look, it is a pretty primitive set-up. Uhhh … .(kicks it and it restarts) HAHA! How many guys do you know that can operate machinery that is almost a millennium old, uh? Okay, let’s clean this baby up … (to Will) come give me a hand here, kid. (Will gives him a look) Relax, it’s just rocket science.

Adam: How long before you can power up the cruiser?

Jake: It is going to take me awhile to figure out if the system is stable and I will get back to you on that one.

Adam: (to Sumuru) Let’s go see if your ancestors left some horses in the stable (she gives him a confused look) I’ll tell you later …

~He turns to leave, Sumuru looks at her guard, still confused. The guard just gives her a shrug and they follow him. The three of them go look for the ship~

Adam: (seeing ship) Not bad for a thousand years old … or many moons, whatever you guys call it.

~They go inside~

Adam: Oh yeah … I am going to need a vintage manual for this one.

~He sits down at the controls~

Adam: Uhhh ... power is lowered. I am definitely going to need Jake’s generators (turns on view screen) Cover your eyes … and keep praying we are getting out of here.

Sumuru: Who says I am going with you?

Adam: You have no future on this planet.

Sumuru: What future will I have with you?

Adam: You’d have a chance.

Sumuru: A second chance?

Adam: It’s up to you.

~Flash of temple guards running in dome, then to Jake and Will~

Will: It’s humming, Jake.

Jake: Aha! Welcome to the age of interstellar travel and holographic swimsuit catalogs, kid.

Will: Cata what?

Jake: Cata … (stops mid word) uhhh … you know a planet of booty-liciousness and you’re not even old enough to appreciate it. That is a tough break, kid. Okay (turn knobs on panel) … let there be light … ahaha … alright let’s get this baby powered up and get the hell out of this hell hole.

~Flashes again to the temple guards closing in and back to Jake~

Jake: (into watch) Adam, we got generator power …

~Over to Adam~

Jake: (over watch communicator) Adam, you copy?

Adam: (into his watch) Yeah, we copy, Jake …

Jake: (over watch) You ready for power?

Adam: (into watch) Yeah, just up the cruiser power storage. I will fire up the onboard reactor.

~Back to Jake~

Jake: (into watch) I am on it … oh, and, Adam?

Adam: (over watch) Yeah?

Jake: (into watch) Tell that queen friend of yours …

~Back to Adam~

Jake (over watch, continuing) I checked the base logs up till the accident. The quantum reactor blew because of structural ridges of the inner tubing, probably a freak reaction to the planet’s offbeat radiation but no judgment, no light of death, and sure as hell no fault of the engineers, male or female.

Adam: (into watch) Yeah ... thanks for the info, bud …

Sumuru: So … we were wrong all along? But …

Adam: It’s natural, I think, after a disaster. Everyone looks for someone to blame … I guess it helps to channel pain into anger, it’s human.

Sumuru: But our society, our belief, it is all based on a mistake.

Adam: Yeah ... I think most of Earth’s cultures are based on a mistake in some form or another. It’s making the best of it that counts. Maybe now you can do that.

~He walks away, and flashes back over to Jake and Will~

Jake: (to Will) I am drawing power to the cruiser power cells now. Hopefully that will give Adam enough juice to power up the ship’s reactor.

Will: What can I do for you, Jake?

Jake: You can keep an eye on those radiation readouts for me … (points to red line on a panel) Now see, we gotta keep them below that red line … see? Cause if we don’t, they are going to blow and our chances of powering up the cruiser will blow with them. Okay?

Will: I am on it.

Jake: You know, I think you’re going to enjoy wherever it is we end up going.

Will: (little sad) Yeah ... I just wish Dog was here.

Jake: (coming over to him) Hey … It’s going to be okay. We are going to get out of here and you and I have a date for some serious fun. (grabs his nose, teasing, then becomes more serious) Eyes, watch … (points to panel)

~Flashes back to the temple guards very close to Jake and Will~

Will: (hears noise and goes to look) Jake?

Jake: Yeah?

Will: Jake, I think I heard something!

Jake: Hey … Hey … Hey, what’s the deal, you’re supposed to be watching the readouts.

Will: Yeah, but, Jake, I really think I heard something.

Jake: Yeah … Yeah … yeah … whatever, redline, kid … go, go, go!

~Will scoffs but goes back~

Jake: (worriedly looks then into watch) Adam, stand by, sending maximum power.

~Back to Adam~

Adam: (into watch) Copy! Sequencing cruiser reactor (to Sumuru) Those two keys. First that one, then that.

Sumuru: These?

~They both start pushing the buttons on the panel he indicates~

~Back to Taxan and temple guards~

Taxan: Up there! (Indicates floors above)

~Back to Adam and Sumuru~

Jake: (over Adam’s watch) Adam, what is your reactor reading?

Adam: (Checking panel, then into watch) 83% power. Ready to fly in five ... you got a problem?

~Back to Jake, light and warning going off everywhere, lots of noise~

Jake: (into watch) My readings are redlining. I don’t know if I can contain this antique.

~Back to Adam~

Adam: (Thinking it over, then into watch) Initiate shut down sequence. I’ll give a go as soon as I can

Jake: (over watch) Copy!

~Back to Jake~

Jake: Stand by reactor shutdown sequence, kid.

~Taxan arrives with temple guards~

Taxan: STOP! (She fires)

~Jake ducks, grabbing Will~

Jake: (into watch) Adam! Snake attack!

~Back to Adam~

Jake: (Over watch) Snake attack!

Sumuru: Taxan!

~The two of them race off, back to Jake as he tries to shut down reactor~

Will: Jake, no! (Pulling him down)

Jake: Nooooo … I gotta shut the reactor down!

Taxan: (runs up to Jake) Where is the traitor Sumuru?

Sumuru: (stepping into view) Over here, Taxan!

~Taxan fires at her, Sumuru runs, Taxan chases her, Adam shoots at the temple guards, taking some out, Taxan comes into his range, Sumuru stops him~

Sumuru: She’s mine

~The two women face off~

Taxan: You’ve been queen too long.

Sumuru: You want my crown, Taxan?

Taxan: It should have always been mine.

Sumuru: Then come take it.

~Taxan sets down rifle, takes out knife. The two fight hand-to-hand, then flashes over to Jake~

Jake: Adam! (Adam comes running) Generators in the red; this place is going to blow.

Adam: How long?

Jake: Five minutes max!

Adam: Power up the cruiser; get those blast gates open … Go! Now!

Jake: (snatches up Will) Come on!

~Adam goes for Sumuru, he takes out a few more temple guards, back to the cat fight, then to Jake on the ship~

Jake: (starting it up) Okay … Let’s see if this vintage baby wants to fly.

~Back to cat fight, Adam and Sumuru’s guard arrive; they watch the fight~

Adam: Sumuru! The generator’s going to explode’ we gotta get out of here!

~Sumuru kicks Taxan into an electrical panel and she fries. Back to Jake on the ship~

Jake: (starts touching buttons on panel) Launch power up and blast gates … open. (Gates open over the ship)

~Back to Sumuru and Adam~

Adam: (running up to Sumuru looking at Taxan) Oww … that had to hurt … we gotta go. Go … Go!

~Back to Jake and Will~

Will: What can I do, Jake?

Jake: Watch and learn, kid. (Starts touching various items on panel) Uhhh ... sequencing engine start up … vertical thrusters … (Will touches something) no touching! … come on, baby, please, baby … please, baby, vertical thrusters firing! ... yes please!

~Back to Taxan, her toasty hand reaches for her knife. She comes after Adam. He turns and shoots her~

Adam: Yeah … didn’t see that one coming.

~~He turns and leaves as her body crumples back to the floor; back to Jake~

Jake: (watching panel) Full vertical thrust, checking main engines. Getting all this technical shit, kid?

Will: No … not really.

Jake: That’s okay … neither does Adam (grinning) Alrighty … give it to me, baby (ship raises off ground a few feet) … .yahoooo … We just got ourselves a ride out of here, kid …

Will: Yes … please (gives Jake a high five)

Jake: I can’t hold these thrusters on standby. Where the hell are they?

Will: (pointing) Here they come!

~Adam, Sumuru and her guard come running in~

Adam: Go, Jake! Go … Go … Go!

Jake: Blast gates are open; we’ve got full thrusters.

Adam: Everybody hang on! (To Jake) Is it at all possible you miscalculated the timeline for this planet?

Jake: I’d hate to admit it, but I just had the same thought … Let’s hope I can navigate this thing through a shaking blast door.

~Ship breaks free and starts to leave bay~

Adam: Jake, wanna do a system’s check and find out how far this fine vintage machinery can take us, please?

Jake: I’m on it.

~Ship rises clear of the dome as it explodes below~

Sumuru: (standing over Will she leans down) Everything is going to be okay.

~They fly over the desert, over the people of Antares~

Jake: We’ve got a full manifest here … enough, (thinks) yeah … enough for a jump to Sirius.

Will: You mean we’re flying through the stars?

Jake: (to Will) You got it, kid ... .next stop Sirius station.

Adam: Hey, Jake ... .take over ... .Hey, kid, come get your first flying lesson.

~Adam gets up and goes to Sumuru, who is watching her people below on a screen~

Sumuru: Those are my people down there.

Adam: Listen, I know we lied to you about our reasons for coming here.

Sumuru: Men lie; women lie … there was deceit and treason in my own circles. But you saved my life.

Adam: You saved mine …

Sumuru: I’ve never needed anybody’s help before …

Adam: Well ... maybe it’s not about needing someone’s help.

Sumuru: But about wanting it?

~Adam kisses Sumuru~

Adam: Jake, set us down on a hilltop near the temple.

Jake: Yeah … but the quakes are getting worse …

Adam: I know …

Jake: Okay ... but we can’t stay long …

Adam: (to Sumuru) You know, there’s room in this cruiser to pick up survivors.

Sumuru: For all of us?

Adam: Well ... it might be a little crowded … but you wanna decide who lives and who dies?

Sumuru: Not anymore …

~They kiss again; the ship lands. Sumuru and Adam go out to meet them; they all bow in her presence~

Sumuru: (to her people) On your feet … stand up all of you … We are going on a great journey together. It’s not one we want but one we have to take, nevertheless. We are going to the stars.

The People: (together) To the stars …

~One male miner steps forward~

Miner: My queen, you lost this (holds out her whip)

Sumuru: I don’t want it anymore. (she throws it aside)

~The people board the ship~

Jake: Okay … anytime, people. Can we move it along, please? (Clapping) Okay ... someone tell me when we’re set to go cause I don’t trust this planet.

Sumuru: Almost there.

~The ship starts to shake violently~

Adam: (getting up) What the hell was that?

Jake: A quake! Adam, I told you! (looking at watch)

~Adam goes to look at the view screen, which shows the big snake outside~

Adam: Ohh … you got to be kidding me ... that was no quake.

~Snake is attacking ship, Jake gives Adam a ‘what the?’ look)

Adam: Don’t ask; I’ll tell you later.

Jake: (looking at monitor) Ahhh … man! I knew this was too good to be true. Look, if that thing damages our thrusters, we are stuck down here, you realize that?

Adam: Fire up the left parking booster!

Jake: What …

Adam: Just do it!!

Jake: Whatever … (fires up booster)

~The snake pulls away~

Jake: Alright … and on the menu tonight, ladies and gentleman, southern fried snake … 3 … 2 … 1 ... Bite Me! (Starts rear thrusters)

~Snake gets toasted by the thrusters~

Adam: Bite Me?

Jake: Let’s get the hell out of here.

~Jake fires up ship and they take off~

Jake: Okay ... Commander Will, butt in the chair, eyes on the screen, hands on the controls and pull back real slow.

~Will does as he says, flying the ship~

Will: Like this?

Jake: You got it. (Smiling)

Will: Cool (smiling)

~Quick flash of ship flying, back to Jake and Will~

Jake: Sooo … you enter your data and Nav controls plots the trajectory and look, there is your course to Sirius …

Will: And after that?

Jake: After that? Pick a star, kid …

Will: Okay!

~A dog bark is heard behind them; the doors to the cargo hold open~

Will: Dog?

~Temple guard comes in carrying Dog~

Will: Dog? Ohh ... Dog, I thought I’d never see you again …

Guard: He was just below the surface, barking like crazy … I thought there must be something or someone really special up there and if there wasn’t, hey, I could use some company.

Will: Oh, thank you so much … ohh, Dog!

~Will runs back to Jake and Sumuru’s guard~

Jake: Hey … he found you.

Sumuru Guard: What a cute little dog … what’s his name?

Will: Dog.

Sumuru Guard: Dog?

Jake: Dog, it’s a name … (winks at guard)

~They laugh, petting the dog as Sumuru and Adam join up in front of a window, looking out at the stars~

Sumuru: A universe, ours for the taking.

Adam: Let’s hope we don’t screw it up.

~ They smile and look out into the stars again, ship flying through the stars~
